Winterize your HOME!!

When winterizing your home there are many different areas to address.

• Blow out Sprinkler System

• Check door thresholds for gaps, there are several different thresholds and door sweeps we carry to keep the cold air out!

• Check the tightness of exterior doors can you push on them easily and feel air flowing around the edges? Country Farm & Garden has several widths and thicknesses of foam tape so the door will seal tight.

• Don't forget to cover exterior facets!

• Do you have older windows? If the pains are loose or the calk is peeling off it may be time to replace the caulking.

Fall Pond Maintenance

Microbe Lift Autumn/Winter Prep is a two-part system of LIQUID bacteria and DRY, water soluble packets containing a blend of cellulase enzymes, cellulase-producing bacteria and a cold weather bacteria. Weeds in your Lawn???

Now is the time to use broadleaf weed killer on your lawn. There are three different ways -

Weed & Feed

 This treatment is applied with a spreader. The key to kill the weeds with Weed & Feed is to make sure your lawn is wet. The granular must stick to the weeds in order to kill them.

 Hose and Go

No accessories  needed just attach the hose and water.

Spray with Weed B Gon Max

 This treatment is made for a sprayer and should be done when the lawn is dry.

Colorful Flowers & Fertilizer

Fertilizer is key to a colorful and long lasting garden.

Hand watering - If you hand water you can use a fertilizer canister that connects to your hose end. This will feed your plants every time they get watered, and keep them blooming all summer long.

If you use a sprinkler or a sprinkler system a granular slow release fertilizer would be best. Once a month sprinkle throughout your garden and the water does the rest. Every time the the plant get watered just the right amount of fertilizer is released.

Planting Tomatoes

When planting your tomatoes there are three important things to do.

• Add compost to your dirt and mix it in well. This helps add nutrients and drainage.

• Remove the leaves on the bottom 2/3 of the plant, and then plant the tomato 2/3 in the ground. This will lead to a big root system for a very healthy tomato plant.

• Last you will need a tomato cage or different kind of support. This year we have tomato cages in white, red, blue, yellow, orange, and green.

Lawn Patching

At Country Farm & Garden we recommend X-Seed Complete Lawn fix sun and shade mix. This seed patch mixture contains seed, fertilizer, and it holds the moisture for less watering. X-Seed lawn fix comes in an easy to use shaker bag, just hold it upside down and shake over a bare spot, roadway, or large bare area. Just one bag of lawn fix covers up to 400 square feet.

Lawn Care

Now is the time to prevent unwanted crabgrass from your lawn. We have two products listed below that will prevent the crabgrass seeds from germinating. March through April is the best time to apply the crabgrass preventer with fertilizer to get your yard green fast!
